Mr. Q.A.F.M Serajul Islam represents
Pioneer Insurance Company Limited on the Board of Mutual Trust Bank Limited
(MTB). He is also the Managing Director of Pioneer Insurance Company Limited.
He obtained post-graduate degree in science in 1972. He then joined as a
Lecturer with a private college. His career in insurance started in 1978
when he joined the Sadharan Bima Corporation (SBC). He held important positions
in different departments of SBC, and assumed the position of Deputy General
Manager of Reinsurance Department when he retired voluntarily from the state
insurance company in 2003. In the same year, he joined Progati Insurance
Co. Limited as Deputy Managing Director. In September 2005, he joined Pioneer
Insurance Co. Limited as Additional Managing Director and took over charge
as CEO and Managing Director of the company on January 14, 2007.
He obtained a professional Diploma
in General Insurance from Bangladesh Insurance Academy in 1986. He also
received training on insurance and reinsurance subjects, both at home and
abroad, including a three week in house training on reinsurance at Tysers,
London. He has also attended various international seminars and conferences.
In addition, he negotiated Reinsurance Treaties of SBC, Progati Insurance
Limited and Pioneer Insurance Co. Ltd with re-insurers, both locally and
in the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland and India. His total experience
in the insurance industry is about 35 years.
