MTB Foundation initiates Community Strengthening Project for the Marginalized Indigenous Communities of Thanchi, Bandarban
MTB Foundation has recently signed an agreement with ActionAid International Bangladesh Society for a project titled – ‘Community Strengthening Project for Indigenous Community in Bandarban’. The collaborative endeavor aims at ushering in a positive transformation in the lives of the marginalized indigenous communities residing in Naikhyongpara and Halirampara villages of Thanchi, Bandarban; thus, fostering the rural landscape of the country.
As a part of the partnership, MTB Foundation will fund the construction and repairing of Gravity Flow System (GFS) at Naikhyongpara and Halirampara in Thanchi. The method is expected to revolutionize the access to clean and safe water, benefiting countless lives and contributing to better health & hygiene for the indigenous communities of the Bandarban Hill Tracts.
MTB Foundation will also provide support for construction of sanitation facilities at Halirampara, Thanchi. The remarkable infrastructure will create an immense positive impact on the lives of the underserved indigenous community by uplifting sanitation practices; thus, promoting dignity and privacy for individuals, especially the female segment.
MTB Foundation, through this project, intends to support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
The agreement was signed by Farah Kabir, Executive Director, ActionAid International Bangladesh Society and Samia Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer, MTB Foundation in the presence of Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director & CEO, Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, AMD & GCRO, Md. Khalid Mahmood Khan, Deputy Managing Director & CBO, Goutam Prosad Das, Deputy Managing Director & GHOICC, Rais Uddin Ahmad, Deputy Managing Director & CAMLCO, Usman Rashed Muyeen, Head of Credit Risk Management Division and Shafayat Ullah, Head of Group Legal Affairs Division of Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. (MTB) at a simple ceremony held at the Bank’s Corporate Head Office, Gulshan 1, Dhaka 1212. Among others, Kazi Morshed Alam, Head of Programme & Engagement, Rafiqul Islam, Head of Finance, Shams Muzaddid, Manager – Philanthropy & Private Sector Partnership from ActionAid International Bangladesh Society and Golam Rabbani, Associate from MTB Foundation were also present during the event.
