Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB) has recently handed over its 8th “MTB Bravery & Courage Award” to the family of Late Sohel Rana, the firefighter who succumbed to his injuries subsequent to the fire rescue operation during Banani’s FR Tower fire incident on March 28, 2019. A special crest and a cheque was handed over through a simple ceremony at the bank’s Corporate Head Office, MTB Centre, Gulshan 1, Dhaka 1212 in the presence of the MTB Chairman, Md. Hedayetullah, MTB Vice Chairman, Khwaja Nargis Hossain, MTB Directors, Md. Abdul Malek, Md. Wakiluddin, Md. Manirul Islam and Anika Chowdhury, MTB Independent Directors, Anwarul Amin and Nasreen Sattar and the MTB Managing Director & CEO, Anis A. Khan and other senior bank officials.
The MTB Chairman lauded the valiant act of Late Sohel Rana, and underscored the significance of such awards in inspiring other organizations to come forward to recognize selfless acts of bravery and sacrifices by individuals. The bank’s Managing Director & CEO, Anis A. Khan, in his speech, stressed the need for such initiatives by other organizations and assured to continue the bank’s support for such causes in the future, as part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The bank had introduced the MTB “Bravery and Courage” award in 2012 with a view to recognizing acts of bravery and rewarding selfless individuals and their families. The first award was presented in 2012 to Late Hazrat Ali, and subsequently to Late Liacot Ali Liton, Traffic Constable Md. Monir Hossain, Akter Mia & Late Sharowar Howlader, Late Badal Mia, Late Nabi Hossain and Hossein Alamgir for their respective acts of bravery.
